Nine Components, One Reliable System: Haesevoets × Lely

Autonomous machines can only operate reliably when the individual components they are built from consistently meet the same requirements. Especially when a system needs to operate independently every day and for extended periods, dimensional accuracy, robustness and repeatability become essential.

This is reflected in our long-standing partnership with Lely. For the Lely Vector, Haesevoets produces nine different components that form part of this autonomous feeding system. It is a collaboration that is not about one specific manufacturing technique, but about reliably producing different components for one technical end product.

Components for a Machine Designed to Operate Autonomously

The Lely Vector was developed to extensively automate feeding on dairy and cattle farms. The mixing and feeding robot can independently mix and distribute rations, push feed towards the feeding fence and frequently provide different groups of animals with fresh feed.

This level of autonomy places high demands on the construction. The machine operates in an agricultural environment, is used intensively and must continue to perform its tasks reliably. The components that make up such a system must therefore not only be manufactured correctly, but also be suitable for the conditions in which they will ultimately operate.

For Haesevoets, this means looking beyond the individual drawing when producing these nine components. How does the component fit into the assembly? What function does it perform? And how do we ensure that the same level of quality is maintained throughout future production runs?

From Nine Components to One Consistent Production Process

When several different components are manufactured for the same end product, process control becomes increasingly important. Each component has its own geometry and technical requirements, yet ultimately needs to fit seamlessly into Lely’s assembly.

This is an important part of the challenge for us. By combining engineering and different manufacturing processes under one roof, we can monitor the manufacturability of components and adapt the production process accordingly. The result is not simply a correct component, but a repeatable manufacturing solution suitable for an OEM environment.

Scalability is particularly important in a long-term partnership. The first component needs to meet the requirements, but so does the hundredth or thousandth. Reliable series production therefore requires control over the entire process, from material and manufacturing to finishing and quality control.

A Long-Standing Partnership with Lely

Our partnership with Lely demonstrates the role a manufacturing partner can play in the development and production of technical machinery. Haesevoets does not build the Vector. We ensure that the components for which we are responsible can reliably take their place within the larger system.

For an OEM, this is about more than production capacity. It requires a partner who understands technical requirements, can manufacture consistently and has the ability to scale as volumes or requirements change.

Ultimately, the reliability of a complex machine is partly determined by the quality of every component from which it is built. Nine different components, with one common objective: enabling the end product to perform exactly as it was designed to.

Frequently Asked Questions About Component Manufacturing for OEMs

Can Haesevoets manufacture multiple different components for a single OEM product?

Yes. Our partnership with Lely is a good example. Haesevoets produces nine different components for the Lely Vector. By combining multiple manufacturing capabilities under one roof, we can reliably and repeatedly produce several components within a single project.

What should a manufacturing partner consider when producing components for autonomous machines?

Components for autonomous machines need to meet the technical requirements of the complete system. Dimensional accuracy, robustness, repeatability and consistent quality are therefore important. The manufacturing process must also be scalable when components are required in series.

Can Haesevoets manufacture technical components in series for OEMs?

Yes. Haesevoets supports OEMs with technical components and assemblies where reliable series production is essential. Engineering expertise and manufacturing are combined to create solutions that are not only manufacturable, but can also be scaled efficiently and consistently.

Reliability Starts with the Component

An autonomous machine is the result of many technical decisions that all need to work together. For Haesevoets, the added value therefore lies not simply in producing nine parts, but in manufacturing components reliably and repeatedly so that an OEM can confidently build on them.
